Tsampazi-Athanasiou Fani

Nurse at the Municipal Hospital. The only victim of the "Dragon’s" attacks who came face to face and spoke with him briefly, before he assaulted her — after already murdering her roommate and friend Melpomeni Patrikiou. Tsampazi testified under oath in court that Pagkratidis was 99% NOT the Dragon. "Many times I say 'maybe it's him' but only 1% — and even that due to the influence of rumors."

She further testified that she agreed to identify Pagkratidis as the "Dragon" while he was held at the police station in Thessaloniki, following an arrangement with the deputy state prosecutor Athanasopoulos and the head of police Tzavaras, who were present during the interrogation. Pagkratidis' response was, "You’ll have my death on your conscience." After this failed identification, Athanasopoulos and Tzavaras ‘reprimanded’ her, according to her courtroom statement. During the same period (i.e., the preliminary investigation at the police station) and after Tsampazi gave statements to the newspaper *Acropolis*, deputy state prosecutor Athanasopoulos summoned her to answer for them and made it clear that if she repeated such actions, she would be the one facing charges in court. Tsampazi was never summoned by the police to attend any of the crime reconstructions at the Municipal Hospital.
